The letter included tips for her to become popular.

On the first season, the story revolved around the storyline on how Jenna fought to overcome her doubt with Matty. Along with her best friends, Tamara and Ming, Jenna tried to define her relationship with Matty and also tried to find out who the anonymous writer of the letter was.
Somewhere in the first, Jake Rosati pops in, Matty’s best friend who also liked Jenna. He was the opposite of Matty. Jenna thought of Jake only as a friend but she found herself falling for him too. By the end of the first season, they wound up being together.
