We are introduced to Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) as they go to the High IQ Sperm Bank to make a bit of extra money to afford faster internet connection. Sheldon however has doubts that his offspring will definitely have a high IQ and they decide to leave.
Coming back home they notice a new tenant, Penny (Kaley Cuoco), has moved into the apartment opposite them which was formerly let by a “200 pound transvestite with a skin condition”. After returning back home, Leonard suggests to Sheldon that they should be welcoming neighbours and widen their social circle by inviting Penny over for lunch.
Penny comes over to eat and tells them she is a waitress at the Cheesecake Factory who has just broken up with her boyfriend of four years. Penny also tells them that her shower is not working properly and Leonard offers her the use of their shower. As Penny is taking a shower, Sheldon flatly tells Leonard that it’s unlikely that she’ll be interested in him sexually, to which Leonard responds that he’s just trying to be a good neighbour but that he might be interested if an opportunity arises, however brief.
Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) come to the apartment, and Howard immediately tries to hit on Penny when she comes out to ask how to operate the shower. After Leonard shows Penny the shower, she asks him if he could pick up her TV from her ex-boyfriend’s apartment.
As Leonard and Sheldon head to Penny’s ex-boyfriends apartment, Penny tries chatting to Howard and Raj. Raj is too terrified to speak a word due to his shyness around women, leaving Howard to m
Leonard and Sheldon manage to sneak into the building behind two girl scouts selling cookies. Their attempt to get the TV back is unsuccessful and they leave instead without their pants. Penny apologizes and takes them out to dinner to make up for it.
